To Be All For God We Must Be Willing To Give All

The Sword of Silence

Silence is a sword in the spiritual struggle. St Faustina states that a talkative soul will never attain sanctity. The sword of silence will cut off everything that would cling to the soul. We are sensitive to words and quickly want to answer back, without taking any regard as to whether it is God’s will that we should speak. A silent soul is strong; no adversities will harm it if it perseveres in silence. The silent soul is capable of attaining the closest union with God. It lives almost always under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. God works in a silent soul without hindrance, Diary #477

Meditation Points:  The Blessed Mother practiced the virtue of silence in a perfect way. She was in silent prayer when the Archangel Gabriel greeted her with “Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with thee. The Gospel records few of Mary’s words. In silence we find the spirit of recollection enabling us to place ourselves in the presence of God..  It is in silence that the Holy Spirit speaks to us. St. Faustina found peace in the silence of her soul where the Lord spoke to her. God always speaks to the silent humble soul.  Let us practice silence in suffering offered up to God for souls. Love silence for much talk is never without sin. “Be Still Before the Lord.”Psalm 37:7
