Mother of the Fiat

To Be All For God We Must Be Willing To Give All

St. Bernadette lived a life of humble obedience to the will of God in all things. At a young age she embraced the cross of suffering borne of love for her savior. In this suffering she followed the Mother of Sorrows to the foot of the cross.  On the wings of faith she was borne. Hope carried her to the cross. Charity fastened her to the cross.  I would like to share some of her thoughts on the spiritual life, thoughts that have been such a comfort to me on my spiritual journey to God.

My Jesus, I suffer and I love you…
I am more and more aware of my weakness..
O my Mother, offer me to Jesus. Take my heart and unite it with the heart of my Jesus.
I must work with all my strength to destroy self-love and self- interest.
Come my soul, courage. Climb to Calvary behind Jesus and Mary for just one more day.
Let us be in union through prayer for life.
Love humility.

St. Bernadette lived a life of holy simplicity, may we follow her example.
